Construction Update: Traverse Ridge Road

traverse ridge-square

Starting Friday, October 9, and continuing for the next two weeks, construction crews will be working on Traverse Ridge Rd. for waterline and storm drain upgrades and repairs. Drivers may see various lane closures on Traverse Ridge Rd. from the four-way intersection at Suncrest and Traverse down to a half mile below the Suncrest monument sign during this work.

The waterline work includes performing repairs related to the water leak that occurred on July 25, 2020. In order to perform this work, a section of the water main in Traverse Ridge will have to be shut down. We do not anticipate any homes being affected by the shut down. Crews will also use this shut down as an opportunity to perform proactive maintenance on the 20-year-old waterline, which provides the only source of water to Suncrest.

Additional maintenance and upgrades to the mainline water vaults in Traverse Ridge will likely start in the late winter or early spring. This work will include sandblasting and resurfacing the equipment to protect against corrosion and adding vents for better ventilation to reduce moisture in the vaults. More information will be provided prior to this work being performed.

During the next two weeks, crews will also be connecting the newly constructed detention basin to the existing storm drain line in Traverse Ridge Road. The new detention basin will increase the capacity and improve the safety of the storm drain infrastructure. This storm drain work will eliminate the standing water that previously collected in this area. The diverted spring water flowing from the storm drain mainline through an open channel in the detention basin will provide a year-round water source for wildlife. The detention basin will be planted with a native hillside seed mix on top of six inches of top soil. Questions about these projects? Contact Robert Markle at 801-576-6360 or
