Tree Commission Mission Statement

Promoting Community Education & Oversight, Expertise & Care for the Trees of Draper

The Draper Tree Commission is a group of residents who volunteer their time to serve the City of Draper. The members are very involved in the environmental aspect of our community. They meet monthly with members of the Draper City Parks and other Departments as necessary with regards to city projects. Each month they review landscape plans for Development Review of new construction projects for the Planning Commission and offer recommendations. The Tree commission members are approved by the Draper City Council for a period of five years. The members are available for consultation and advice in the planting and care of trees. All are very knowledgeable in this area.

Tree City USA

Draper City has been recognized as a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Through the ongoing efforts of the Parks Department and the Tree Commission, Arbor Day is recognized with the planting of trees in selected locations throughout the city. The Tree Commission also participates in Earth Day which is sponsored by the city. Draper City is a participant with Tree Utah who, through their foundation, offer grants for trees.

Street Tree Guide

The Draper Street Tree Guide and other material for the care and planting of trees are provided at no cost to our residents, these are available in the main entrance of Draper City Hall.  The Tree Commission has put together a Street Tree Guide to help you decide the best types of trees to plant in park strip areas.
