Purpose


The Finance Department oversees the daily financial activities of the city, which include:
  • Accounting
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Asset management
  • Budgeting
  • Debt and investment management
  • Financial reporting
  • Forecasting
  • Management of citywide internal controls
  • Payroll
  • Purchasing
  • Revenue collection
  • Utility billing

Responsibilities


The department utilizes best practices and industry standards to provide accountable, transparent, and prudent fiscal stewardship. The department annually directs the budget process as well as the preparation and publication of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) that meets standards set by the Government Finance Officers’ Association (GFOA).

The department also provides oversight for utility billing and the Draper Justice Court.
